Beacon 2018

Changes for Beacon 2018!

Welcome to Beacon! If you're reading this page, it means that you're considering joining us for one of our programs this year. (If you found your way here by accident, click here to see an overview of our programs!).

In 2018, we're making some changes to the way our registration process works, and they're important enough that we want you to read through those changes. If you want to skip reading this, just scroll to the bottom and click on "I'm ready to register" (after February 1st). That being said: don't tell us that we didn't warn you if something is confusing during the registration process!

See you at Beacon this year!

Fall Registration is open on February 1st!

Over the years, many families have asked us why they have to wait until the middle of the summer (when they're often on vacation) to register for fall camps. Our answer is... good point! We're opening our fall registration at the same time as summer registration this year, but there's no rush to sign up. Registration will still be open until the Wednesday before the fall weekend.

(If you register early, we won't be upset either...)

Pre-Filled Medical Forms

This one is exciting: if you've ever registered for anything in your life, you know that medical forms can be long and tedious. It's even worse if you have to fill out the form twice. No longer true for Beacon! If you've registered yourself or your child for one of our programs in the past, the medical form should appear pre-filled for you. All we ask is that you check to make sure things are up to date (vaccinations, medications, etc.).

Camp T-Shirts

This year, we're adding the option for you to purchase a t-shirt for your campers while you're completing the registration process. The cost per shirt will be $10 and it will have a special Summer 2018 design. When your camper arrives at camp on the first day, we'll have the t-shirt waiting for them at the registration tent.

A few details:

  • So that we can get final numbers, the t-shirts won't be available for purchase after May 15.
  • T-shirt sizes are unisex. You know your child better than we do, so please plan accordingly when ordering a size.
  • This t-shirt won't be available in the Tuck Shop - this is a registration only item!

Tuck Deposits

Speaking of the Tuck Shop: we are now offering the ability to deposit money into your camper's Tuck Account when you register for summer camp sessions. Many parents get to the registration tent on the first day of camp and don't have cash with them, so we thought this would be a nice way to help make the first day easier. This will be particularly easy for parents who are sending their campers on the bus.

If you want to bring additional money with you on the first day of camp, that's totally fine. You can also bring all your money that day as well - we're simply trying to make everything more convenient for you as you register for camp.

Cell Phone Policy

More of a reminder than a change, we want to make sure that everyone who registers for a Beacon program understands that we're a camp that does not allow cell phones or tablets during camp sessions. We know that campers (especially teens) love their technology, but camp is a special time for them to unplug and connect with friends the old-fashioned way: face to face. Any devices brought to camp will be returned to parents at the registration tent, or held for the camper in the office if it is found after parents leave. Please remind your campers that this is for their own benefit, and leave your phones at home!

(We think cameras are great. If your child brings a camera, please make sure it doesn't have the ability to connect to the Internet)

Okay: that's everything for now. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us. We want your family to have the best summer possible, and we hope that Beacon will be a part of that summer!
