It's the 2019 Summer Staff!
God’s faithfulness to the ministry at camp in evident in so many ways. One amazing way we see His faithfulness proven over and over again is in who God brings together to serve as the summer staff team each year. This year has been no exception! We are thrilled to introduce the seven of the wonderful people whose hard work this summer will make camp possible. You’ll also find their lovely photos at the bottom of the article in the same alphabetical order.
Here’s your team!
Aurora “Borealis” McArthur - Aurora has increased her involvement at Beacon ever since participating in FLIGHT 2017, moving into her role on the Lifeguard/Maintenance team this summer. We are thankful to our dear friends at Camp Crossroads for not withholding her from us!
Ben “[Needs A Camp Name]” Sheffer - Ben has experienced Beacon through Skills Camp and the Family Day Festival, and now we’re thrilled that he has chosen to expand his Beacon horizons by serving on the Lifeguard/Maintenance team!
Bethany “Steps” Williams - Her camp name is “Steps” because she took her first steps at Beacon…and Bethany is about to take a bajillion more steps around camp as a busy member of the Lifeguard/Maintenance team this summer!
Christopher “Topher” Hayes - You can’t miss this bundle of positivity and enthusiasm! Chris is a super handy guy with a passion for music. He looks forward to playing his part on the Lifeguard/Maintenance team!
Emma “Chapters” Reijmers - Emma will be spending the summer at Beacon following the completion of her first year of university studies. As a member of the Lifeguard/Maintenance team, you can expect to see her with anything from a lifeguard whistle to a mop and bucket in hand… or a good book or her violin, if it’s break time!
Marlies “Lumos” Charters - Having already served at camp as a cabin leader, director’s aide, kitchen staff, weekend lifeguard, music leader and more, it seems only fitting that Marlies put her multi-Beacon-skills into practice in a new way this summer as a part of the Lifeguard/Maintenance team!
Matthew “Big Mac” Vandekemp - Returning for a second year of summer staff, Matt will look forward to broadening his areas of knowledge and skill even more as a member of the Maintenance team. He will also have to take his stealth skills to a new level, as his penchant for secret ongoing practical jokes was uncovered last summer and everyone will be ready for him this year!
Please plan on upholding these young people in your prayers as they support the work at Beacon this summer! Our summer staff are funded by the gifts of donors rather than wages taken from camper fees, so if you have any interest in supporting them financially, please visit the Friends of Beacon website.
