September Lighthouse Update
It’s hard to believe, based on all the work that’s already happened, that the walls of the Lighthouse only came down a few short weeks ago. Mark “Mr. Tok” Vandervecht have been working really quite hard to make everything happen smoothly, and I’ve never had to dodge so many dump trucks full of gravel or debris when I drive down the camp road!
Of course, pictures are worth a thousand words, so here are a few highlights of the last couple of weeks (with the most recent photos snapped this morning as the team smoothed out gravel underneath where the new floors will go):
Starting later this week, we’ll have a team of workers installing the new walls of the building, in preparation for the arrival of the roof trusses sometime next week, Lord-willing. After that, it will be the big push to get the building enclosed before the snow flies - which is always a tricky thing in Muskoka… who knows when God will decide to send snow!
I’m also very happy to report that as of this morning, we are at 75% of our fundraising goal for the new building. We’re looking forward to being at 100% one day soon, but in the meantime, it is so encouraging to have so many members of the Beacon family to step up and support this project. When I think about the generations of campers who will benefit from the new Lighthouse (and year-round too, not just from May to October!), I get very excited to think about the legacy that you are all leaving as you support this project - thank you!
Please continue to pray that God would protect the workers who are serving at Beacon, that the funds would arrive in God’s timing, and that we would continue to see the fruit of His work in our own lives and the lives of our campers at Beacon!
