Christmas Insights: The Vandervechts

Entering the Christmas season is an opportune time to give you a taste of what the Beacon onsite team members and their families are up to at this time of year! This week, we get poetic insight into the life of Facilities Manager Mark Vandervecht and his master-of-all-trades wife Judy.

I ain't no English major, but have been
     asked to write a blog.
So here and now begins
      my Christmas dialogue.

It's that busy time of year, when
our calendars sure do fill up fast.
We all want to be together,
we call our friends up from the past.

Time to decorate your house,
      in such a creative style,
to untangle last years mess, however,
may take you quite a while.

 We have three spotlights shining,
  on our beautiful birch trees.
The branches seem to glow,
the effect is sure to please.

Every night to me a simple reminder,
as in those trees I look above,
that we are to be a living reflection,
standing in the light of His great love.

So warm and cosy it is inside,
with all those gifts piled under the tree,
the excitement builds as you wonder,
"Which of those presents are for me?"

But first we feast with our loved ones,
   gathered all around.
The turkey is so good,
it's the biggest one you've found.

Followed up with a coffee,
   and maybe some apple pie,
feeling so stuffed and now we are wondering,
Why, oh why, oh why?

Now content and together reading,
      The Story in God's Word,
The best gift of all to us,
is Jesus Christ our Lord.

Eternal life, I see it has been,
 so freely given to you.
Accepting this gift is all that's left,
for me and you to do.

We hope this Christmas your family,
will all be able to see,
The amazing love that God has shown
to you and to me.

We thank all of our Beacon family for the love you have shown us this past year. We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Much love from
Mark and Judy
