Beacon Bible Camp is a non-profit organization that exists to provide an adventurous Christian camping experience where people, particularly youth, can be encouraged to respond to the gospel of the Lord Jesus and to grow in their Christian life.
One of Beacon's greatest blessings is our amazing staff. To celebrate them, and introduce you to who they are, we feature them on our blog: Staff Saturdays!
Read MoreIt is with great pleasure that I'm able to announce that Beacon's Board of Directors has selected an Office Manager to join the Beacon team. Danielle McKelvey will be starting this month, and joins Luke, Alyssa and Mark as part of the On-Site Team.
Having served in many roles at Beacon Bible Camp over the years, Danielle is excited to be starting as Office Manager. Danielle’s experience with Beacon goes back to her teenage years when she would often make the trip to camp from her hometown of Windsor, Ontario. Danielle met her husband, Anthony, an electrical apprentice and fire fighter, at camp and they now live in Gravenhurst, Ontario with their son Josiah, born in December 2014.
If you get an email from Danielle in the next few weeks, please make sure to give her a big welcome! Further, we'd like to thank the Board of Directors for their diligent work in conducting interviews and prayerfully selecting a new full-time worker at camp. Thank you as well to Naomi Smith, who has generously operated as our Office Manager as we continued our search.
We are also grateful to all of our supporters during this time of transition. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as Danielle begins training this week.

Camp was buzzing with activity this past September as we opened our doors to over 400 community members, past and present campers and their families, members of the media (a local radio station), and more! Young guests enjoyed a bounce house, trampolines, a live reptile exhibit, face painting, tours of the camp grounds, crafts, swimming and boating, and Iron Man/Woman competition, exhibits with a camp memorabilia, and a dream tree where all were invited to share their hopes and prayers for camp moving forward.
The camp grounds were in tip top shape, and were dotted with yellow-shirted volunteers cheerfully serving and helping to direct newcomers. A delicious meal was served under the warm September sun, and the fun made its way to the beach for an afternoon of boating, swimming and more at the waterfront.
For many in attendance, this was their first time visiting camp. We hope that they'll be back this summer to experience all that camp has to offer.
While there was a sense of nostalgia as we reflected on 50 years of God's goodness, there was also an overwhelming sense of excitement for what's in store for Beacon. We look forward to the next 50 years and beyond as we continue to offer a place where lifelong memories are made, deep friendships are formed, and where kids and adults alike come to know Christ in a deeply personal way!
