Beacon's FLIGHT program is how we help campers transition not only into amazing camp staff, but into godly men and women who are ready to make a difference in the world around them, both at Beacon and beyond. We believe that young people need to be equipped to make important choices in their lives of faith, and work with our FLIGHT participants to develop a strong character and sense of personal integrity towards God and others. FLIGHT (Future Leaders In God's Harvest Training) is an 11 day commitment during the year, including a leadership weekend in early May and participation in either Junior Girls or Junior Boys, where participants learn alongside the camp program in a separate but intersecting camp environment. Successful completion of the FLIGHT program year will result in an invitation to become a Junior Cabin Leader at Beacon the following year. 

FLIGHT is a fantastic way to stretch yourself as an individual while learning in the safe and team-based environment that Beacon provides. Our leadership training staff work hard to make sure that each camper takes the next step in their journey towards fullness in Christ. We strongly believe that camp ministry is a great place for young people to take a leadership role, where they can lead others with the support of an experienced and caring team of instructors who want to see them succeed.

If you're willing to challenge yourself and make the commitment to learning how God wants to use you to impact your world, we want to see you at FLIGHT. Applications are due by April 1st each year, though applicants may be informed about acceptance starting as early as the beginning of January. The cost of the program is $450, which includes both training sessions, transportation to and from camp (if required) and all program materials. Sponsorship is available for those who require support. Applicants must be turning 16 years of age this year in order to apply. Eligible candidates will first be contacted by our FLIGHT leaders (Mr. T and Waves), and be invited to apply for the program.

Spring Session:

FLIGHT Training: May 3 - 5

The FLIGHT training weekend serves as your introduction to what leadership is all about. We talk about what it means to be a cabin leader, taking care of yourself spiritually, how your leadership style affects others, and of course, we mix in a ton of fun. Participants get the chance to bond with their FLIGHT "crew" as they make new friends and discover their weaknesses and strengths.

Second Session:

Junior Girls: June 29 - July 6
Junior Boys: July 6 - 13

The FLIGHT summer session is all about the practical aspects of Christian leadership. You will be immersed in the camp session as you observe and learn from other staff members, participate in some camp programming and gain hands-on experience in a number of different positions at camp, culminating in a night in a cabin with an experienced cabin leader.
