Monk’s Musings: Follow His Example
Beacon Bible Camp
[Jesus told his disciples] I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. John 13:15
Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 1 Peter 2:21
Summer Camps are now a distant memory, and the Fall Camps have also finished. We are very grateful to those who came to help at the Fall Work Day, getting Beacon ready for the upcoming Winter camps. This has been a month of catching up with building and maintenance, and also an opportunity for Marianne and me to go on a short mission trip to Colombia. The above two verses were the theme of the Bonafont conference, set in the misty mountains of the coffee-growing axis in the Andes highlands. What a challenge! To serve one another as Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, and even to suffer for one another, just as Jesus lovingly did for us!
So I would like to pass on to you this same challenge we received: To walk in our Lord’s footsteps, learning to be: (a) merciful, (b) forgiving, (c) holy, (d) loving, (e) humble, (f) obedient and (g) prayerful. These should be the distinguishing marks of believers in Colombia, Canada, and everywhere! This is impossible to do in our own strength. But with God’s help, all things are possible. So, as we live out the last weeks of this quarter century, may we all walk hand in hand with the Lord, following the footsteps of Jesus, imitating His perfect example.
We wish you all the best as you meet up with family and friends during this Christmas Season.
On behalf of all the Beacon Staff,
Andrew ‘Monk’ Nunn
