Fall Focus: Colour Tour is Back!
As summer quickly turns into fall in Muskoka, we are so excited to focus on one of our favourite camp sessions: the Colour Tour! Designed for campers who are young at heart but with more “life experience”, it is always a joy to have them up at camp. This year, the Colour Tour is back and better than ever!
Beacon’s programs focus so much on young campers and their families. We’re glad for that - it’s a core part of our mission. However, we have many young campers who one day turn into older campers - and they still want to experience the joy of coming to Beacon. A number of years ago, the Colour Tour was created as a chance for those campers to gather. Today, it’s offered for those who are 55 years of age and older.
Each year, we create a week full of fun and memories, and make sure to tailor it to all sorts of abilities and interests. One of our favourite parts of the session is our annual bus tour of Muskoka: we get a chance to enjoy the fall leaves, and usually a few treats along the way! It’s run quite capably by Doug and Sylvia Smith, who are always looking for creative ways to engage campers. In 2018, they’re planning an incredible trip to Huntsville and the surrounding area, including a stop at the Algonquin Art Centre, which will sure to provide something for everyone!
(Alyssa “Dash” LaRocque is putting some fun, personal touches on the week as Program Director, and we can’t wait to show you some of the surprises!)
As part of our desire to build a Colour Tour that will not only provide rest for campers, but also help build them up spiritually, we are very excited to welcome Scott and Lorilee Maclean as the speakers for the week. They have served with Emmanuel International Canada for over 21 years. Twelve of those years were spent in Malawi and upon their return to Toronto in 2009 they have served as mission mobilizers. They are planning to return to Malawi and soon after begin life and ministry in Mozambique.
(They also put up with Kodiak living with them for two months back in 2008 when he was visiting Malawi).
We would love to have you or your friends join us for the Colour Tour this year - space is limited because of the coach bus, so please sign up early to avoid disappointment! Click below to learn more, or better yet - call the office!
