Family Day Wrap-Up!
What an amazing day last Monday!
We prepped, we prepared, and then we prayed that God would deliver cold enough weather that our lake rink and camp road would hold despite the warm weather, and boy did He deliver! Beacon welcomed over 200 people to our second annual Family Day Festival, and for most of the day, we had weather just under freezing, which meant great skating all morning (let's be honest, it wasn't so great in the afternoon...).
Lunch was better organized this year, with three sittings of fun and laughter. We also managed to squeeze in a second rink on the lake, meaning that those expert hockey players got their own space, and new learners were able to take their time. Add that to the hot chocolate, super fast tube run, and so much laughter, we think things when pretty well!
What did we learn, and what are we planning for next year?
- We hate saying "we're full", so we're already planning new ways to fit more people in our parking lot next year. Maybe even a bus from Toronto?
- Hot dogs at the beach: enough said.
- That tube run was pretty fast, wasn't it? We're going to figure out how to slow it down if the weather is similar next year.
- A bigger snow sculpture!
It's hard to capture all the fun of the day using just words, so we thought we'd share this little video that our talented friends at Pond's End Productions put together for us. They're going to be helping create some marketing videos for camp, and this was a great test run. Enjoy!
