One of Beacon's greatest blessings is our amazing staff. To celebrate them, and introduce you to who they are, we feature them on our blog: Staff Saturdays! This is our last Staff Saturday for the year, but we'll be back in September with more fun!

Lives: Ajax, Ontario
How long have you been attending/serving at Beacon?
I've been attending Beacon for about 9 years now, and have been volunteering for past year.
What are some roles you have played at camp, and what are some of the highlights?
Last summer I was at Jr. Boys to finish the FLIGHT program. Then I was at Co-Ed as kitchen staff, and then Sr. Boys as a cabin leader. In the fall I had the opportunity to lead singing at fall forward. And this year so far I helped out at the Family Day event, and led singing at Staff Training a few weeks ago.
Highlights: Getting to know and connect with my campers on a deeper level than fun and games. I found that I was able to connect a lot more with the older Sr. Boys and was able to help them with their struggles and fears as they were entering high school.
What are your favourite food, place and activity at Beacon?
Food: Joyce’s chicken
Place: All of Beacon really, but if I had to choose it would be the beach.
Activity: Singing!! and the Y-game
What are you up to these days?
I'm finishing up grade 12 now, and I'm going to UOIT for Commerce (Business) in September.
What's a talent or hobby of yours that campers might not know about?
I love woodworking. I've made many things from model houses and cabinets, to yes...wooden bowties. And I have an obsession with learning how to play a lot of instruments.
Why do you love volunteering at Beacon?
Growing up, I experienced God's hand working in my life every time I went up to camp, and now I get to experience God working through me and witnessing Him working in campers' hearts. It’s always a blessing.
