Year-Round Staff Update: Welcome Heidi!

Well, it seems like each year we get to bring you a quick update about the year-round staff team at Beacon, and 2018 is no different! Due to some exciting news for Maddie "Splenda" Hockley, we're welcoming a summer staff family that is going to bring some fun changes for us in the next little while!
When we hired Maddie back in 2017, she let us know that she and her husband Mark were going to be expecting their second child in April, and if hired, would need some time off. The summer is our busiest time of year, and we definitely need someone at the helm in the office keeping our heads on straight, so we'd need to figure out a solution. Maddie is incredibly well qualified as the Office Coordinator at Beacon, and we love kids, so we agreed that she would begin, and that we would trust God to provide. That was a Monday...
... and by Thursday God had the answer! We received a call from Matt and Heidi Mikitka, who were interested in knowing if there was a way that they could serve at camp full-time this summer. Matt's job had allowed him to work remotely for a couple of months, and they thought Beacon would be a great place to be.
Talk about an answer to prayer.
After talking it over and planning for how things would work, we're excited to announce that Heidi will be joining us as Office Coordinator this summer, covering Maddie's maternity leave, and her amazing family will be joining us. Matt will be working hard (remotely) for his company, but has expressed interest in being involved with Beacon programming in some way. Here's what Heidi had to say when we told her everything was official:
“Camp has always had a special place in our hearts, and we are thrilled to return this summer. What a gift! I am already dreaming of all the wonderful spreadsheets and files that I get to organize. I really do enjoy organization, and adding hospitality to it makes it ever worthwhile. I look forward to meeting many of you this summer!”
Maddie will be going on maternity leave starting on March 23rd, and we're looking forward to having her back in the fall. Heidi will be arriving sometime in the middle of June, with Matt and the kids arriving before camp starts in earnest in July. Please join us in praying for both Maddie and Heidi as they head on separate journeys following the Lord over the next few months!
