Hello Mr. Whittaker! (Donated Items, Part Two)
Luke LaRocque
Did you notice that we’ve added a new Donated Items page on our website? Beacon has been incredibly blessed over the years to have received a great deal of donated items that has helped us keep our costs down. We always seek to be good stewards of the resources God has given us and we owe a big debt of gratitude to the dozens if not hundreds of people who have given in this way.
We often get emails asking about whether a specific item would be useful at camp. Sometimes, those items just arrive at camp anonymously. While we appreciate those donations, it’s always helpful if you contact the camp office ahead of time so that we can let you know if the items would be useful at Beacon. Believe it or not, we have limited space to store items!
As we start to incorporate some of these donated item requests into our work, we thought we would introduce you to a few of the new things we have planned (or are looking to the future about). This week, we’re sharing about our desire for more Adventure in Odyssey CDs - read more about it below!
ADVENTURES IN ODYSSEY
Campers love Adventures in Odyssey. These amazing stories from Focus on the Family are a hit no matter what the age group (Kodiak even had a cabin at Alpha once where his 21-year old guys asked if they could listen to an episode as they fell asleep at night!).
We want to expand our Adventures in Odyseey CD collection so that our staff have easy access to a variety of storylines and themes during the week. If your kids have outgrown their CDs, we’d love to use them at camp! (If you donate them and we’ve already got those episodes, we’ll make sure to donate them to another local Christian organization who can use them to spread the AIO love! Also, as much as we love tapes and casettes, we’re only equipped to take CDs or DVDs.)
