Basecamp / Wilderness Changes!

There has long been an inequality at Beacon.

What’s this, you say?

From the time they turn 9, campers have had the opportunity to spend three years enjoying Junior camp. They blossomed and grew each year as they had the opportunity to get to know the directors, staff and types of activities that make a kid’s first years at camp wonderful.

Then came the triple Senior years where campers got the chance to grow into themselves as they settled into the more active, more in-depth experiences that the older age category had to offer. The friendships established earlier in their camp life solidified with the three years of bonding.

But then…what was this? Arriving at the key teenage stage, with Basecamp and Wilderness before them, campers suddenly realized that instead of three years, they only had two in which to take in the amazing options offered to them. Minds were blown. Tears were shed. Agonizing decisions were made.

That is, until this year!

For the first time, Basecamp and Wilderness campers are able to spend the tradition THREE years in the same age category! Campers aged 15, 16 and now 17 are grouped together in this category, and we see some greaet advantages to this new age bracket:

  • Campers have more freedom to try out both Basecamp and Wilderness options, knowing that they can try both and still have the space to repeat a year in the option they enjoyed the most

  • The 17-year-old campers are now grouped with peers who are high-school focused, rather than the older crowd that becomes post-secondary focused.

We are excited about these changes and would be happy to answer any questions you might have about it. Call the camp office or email us at contact@beaconbiblecamp.com to find out more.
