ReKindle: The Zoom Edition

“I don’t know, but I’ll find out!”
When our leaders-in-training learn to respond to camper questions, we teach that honesty is the best way to go, but that we always follow up. If they don’t know what to say, they say “I don’t know, but I’ll find out!”
The bottom line is that if you don’t know, don’t try to fake it. There is danger in giving band-aid answers to important questions. It’s better to be honest about what you don’t know, and then keep to your word and hunt down a truthful response.
In the same way, many of our answers about this summer’s programs at Beacon have been “We don’t know, but we’ll find out… hopefully soon!”. The board and year-round staff would love to tell you exactly what’s going to happen, but the truth is that we just don’t know… yet. Even with the unknowns, this waiting is for the good of camp. Beacon’s board of trustees are working with a six week timeline when it comes to making decisions on our programs so that we can work with the most current updates from the government, as opposed to deciding in April for July or August. It means a lot of painful patience, even if it is for good reasons. (You can always find out about our response to the current situation here.)
While we wait, one thing remains true: we are going to need our amazing volunteer Beacon staff family this summer. Now, as always, nothing works without you! Not only are you essential (yes, that’s a bit of a pandemic joke), but you are in our hearts. We care about what’s been going on in your lives just like we care what’s going on in our camper’s lives.
Knowing all this, it became even more important that we run our staff weekend. Never have personal connections and current information been so vital! That means that we’re excited to bring you ReKindle: The Zoom Edition for May 2020. It’s a community building and staff training event all rolled into one.
All sessions will be available live via Zoom meetings on Saturday May 16, 2020. Our main goals are to:
encourage you spiritually
help you grow in your faith
update you on summer plans
give you a chance to connect with staff via virtual coffeehouses, games, and prayer.
This year, ReKindle can be truly unlimited, because we can host as many people as want to show up. We hope to see a great turn out as we spend time planning and praying for whatever God might do this year.
Check out the ReKindle page of the Beacon website to see a schedule and register! Can’t wait to see you soon!
