Staff Names: Chris and Tanya Jobe
Camp Names: Ping and (no camp name yet!)
Lives: Scarborough, Ontario
How long have you been attending/serving at Beacon?
We started attending Agape Family Camp the summer of 2001 when our son Joshua was a baby. Starting in 2003, we've been Directors at Agape.
What camp have you helped out at recently and what were some highlights?
Agape Family Camp - the highlight is always those who have come to know the Lord. We're also big fans of the beach time! It is great swimming and playing with the kids and other families. And some amazing conversations have happened there and incredible friendships!
What are your personal favourite food, place and activity at camp?
Food: Our favorite food is Joyce's chicken! What can you say about Joyce's chicken??!!!! Amazing!
Activity: Our favorite activity is the beach time! Swimming, boating, spending time in conversation with others. So much fun! We also get a kick out of the Talent Shows!
What are you up to these days?
Tanya is a Manager at McDonald's. Chris is a Chief Caretaker in a high school for the Toronto DIstrict School Board. We serve at church in many capacities - Tanya and I are small group leaders, Chris teaches Sunday School, sings on the Worship team and serves as a Deacon.
What’s a talent or hobby of yours that your campers might not know about?
I (Chris) can play guitar and sing. I'm also a pretty good Ping-Pong player (thus the camp name). Tanya is an avid reader and a devourer of Christian music. She loves to attend concerts and take in the atmosphere.
Why do you love volunteering at Beacon?
I love being at Beacon because I love the people I get to work with and the campers I get to Mentor. I love having a place to go to get away from the business of life and focus on God and that I get to worship with so many great people. I also like getting to be my crazy camp self!
