How long have you been attending/serving at Beacon?
I've been a part of the Beacon family since 2004, where I started as a Junior boy.
What camp have you helped out at recently and what were some highlights?
The camps that I serve most at are Jr. and Sr. Boys. Some of my favorite memories of being a leader... My first year leading at Sr. Boys, my cabin won cabin clean up every day and they were a great group of kids. This past summer I had a great experience with my Jr. Boys cabin. The boys worked together well with almost no squabbles.
What are your personal favourite food, place and activity at camp?
Food: Ham with scalloped potatoes and carrots. Ice-Cream cake for dessert.
Place: Birch Cabin, Crows nest, Lighthouse
Activity: Wide Games, Canoeing, Tetherball
What are you up to these days?
I am currently studying at George Brown College studying Baking and Pastry Arts. I am currently working at Tim Horton's. I attend Maple Hill Baptist Church in Keswick when I can. But in the city I attend a study group at the college when my schedule allows for it.
What’s a talent or hobby of yours that your campers might not know about?
I'm good at card tricks. I love photography. I make candies and chocolates from scratch. I'm a gamer
Why do you love volunteering at Beacon?
Why do I love Beacon? Beacon is a place where you can get away from the busyness of the world - no tech, no internet, just beautiful green and brown nature. Beacon is a place where you can connect with God in a way that's truly tranquil. No matter what week you go to camp, the staff there are always happy, nice and willing to talk without judging. It's a truly peaceful, beautiful place.
