Did You Know? Beacon's Baking Weekend
Beacon Bible Camp
If you've ever enjoyed a melt-in-your-mouth cheese biscuit, a delicious cake dessert, or a butter tart for snack at camp, then you've reaped the benefits of the hard work of those who participate it Beacon's annual baking weekend! Interested individuals have gathered on a weekend in June over the past few years to produce key Beacon baked goods en mass. This lessens the load of the food services manager and cooks during the busy summer cooking schedules.
In recent years, we have had a small but mighty crew of participants in the baking weekend. We want to build our team of bakers so that this weekend continues to be a success in the future, which is why we are inviting you, dear reader (or interested people that you may know) to consider joining the fun!
The baking weekend is a quiet weekend where those who come can focus in on a few key recipes. Some recipes require some background knowledge (such as how to work the tart press), but many just involve the ability to follow a recipe. Those with experience are there to offer advice and help to make each recipe a success; plus you stand to gain experience and friendship along the way!
This year's baking weekend will be at camp in and around the weekend of June 10-12. If you have any interest in participating, please contact Alyssa LaRocque at foodservices@beaconbiblecamp.com for more information!
